The audition process for the Spring musical was nerve wracking. Every student who wanted to audition was supposed to have 16 bars of a song memorized, their audition form filled out and signed, and they were all supposed to be familiar with a few scenes (aka sides). Students had to sign up for a time slot to audition and stay after school. They went into the auditorium with their groups of about 10-14 students and lined up on the stage, this is one of the points when a lot of people were the most nervous.

Mr. Dowell went down the line, calling on people to sing, they would say their name, the composer of the song, and the name of the song, and then they would sing. Once everyone sang they would do puppet work: three people at a time would go up, grab a puppet, and use their puppets to introduce themselves. Actors had to show a few more things with the puppet, and then they would do sides. Depending on the amount of characters per side, people would go up and act out the scene.
The auditions were on Wednesday and Thursday, so there was a day or two of worrying and hoping. The cast list came out the following Friday and there was a line of people behind the list to see if they were in and to see what part they got. To accept a role, students had to sign their initials next to their names, and rehearsals started the next Monday.
Congratulations to Belle: Riley Rhoder, Beast: Billy Bates, and Gaston: Brendan Smith and everyone else who made it in!
