Winter Dance-- December
The SCA held a winter can-drive dance before the holiday break. Students were able to donate a can of food to a local shelter in exchange for a ticket to the dance, headlined by DJ Dejo!
Jerry Spinelli Visit-- February
Author Jerry Spinelli (known for Maniac McGee, Stargirl, and now The Warden's Daughter) arranged a visit to Lanier to promote his new novel during ELT at the end of Quarter 2. He provided tips for young writers, and when the presentation was interrupted about a locker-clean-out announcement he shared memories about having a messy locker in high school.
Mr. Spinelli's newest novel, The Warden's Daughter is about a young almost-teenager named Cammie whose father is a prison warden, so they live in an annex of the jail. Cammie's summer is filled with adventures, and fights (her nickname is "Cannoball" after all). It's a great book; ask Mrs. Murphy in the library for a copy!
